The Widow/Widowers Support Group assists people who have lost a spouse through death deal with the changes in their lives.  It is a spiritually centered, interdenominational group with presentations by area clergy and a time for small group discussion.  Sessions are free and registration is not required.  The next session begins Monday, March 25 and meets Mondays, 7-9 p.m., for six weeks at Calvary Lutheran Church.  For more information call Phyllis at 701-775-7444 or Diane at 701-739-3310.

Northern Plains Conference is hosting a series of listening sessions to hear how congregations want to move forward together.  Our invitation is to the meeting on May 5 in Hillsboro.  We’ll carpool there together immediately following worship.  Please sign the clipboard if you want to attend.  Here are the question prompts:

• What would happen if we lived out of a sense of abundance rather than scarcity?

• How would we act differently if we decided not to hide our light under a bushel?

• What if we followed Jesus who “flipped” not only the tables in the Temple, but people’s perceptions and assumptions?

We join in conversation about faith and justice in our world on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. We’ll be reading and discussing Sojourner’s magazine and also talk about the MN and ND legislative sessions and justice issues they are addressing.  Join us!

Add your skills to our projects! Those who enjoy crafting and sewing meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays at church.  You are welcome to join in these activities or to bring your own project and enjoy the good company while you work. Contact us at grandcitiesfog.org.

Children in elementary and middle school meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:30 for a fun activity. All children are welcome. Let us know if you’d like to invite children from your family or neighbors.

Family of God encourages participation in the newly formed PFLAG group for those wanting to be supportive of LGBTQIA+ friends and family.  We welcome all who are interested to give and/or receive support in this community. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Altru campus on S. Washington.  Greeters at the door will help you find the meeting room.

On the third Wednesday of each month we gather at North Country Food Bank to fill boxes of food for seniors.  The food bank shares these each month with seniors throughout Northwest Minnesota.  More information about North Country Food Bank’s mission can be found here.

We meet at 9:00 each Friday morning to do a little weeding and harvesting and give TLC to the landscape. Work for 1/2 hour and then enjoy fellowship.  Everyone is welcome!

We celebrate Pentecost, the “birthday” of the church.  You may want to wear something red to worship that day!  Following worship we’ll have a potluck.  Bring a dish to share.

We’re planning a joint service with the Unitarians for May 22 with their tradition of Flower Communion. This service represents what each person brings to our community and celebrates diversity. It’s also a chance for us to plant our favorite flowers in the new church landscaping (weather permitting) and to take home flowers to enjoy. Be thinking about what bedding plants or fresh flowers you would like to bring to that service.
